At Flamborough CE Primary School, we aim to produce learners who are autonomous and effective users of computing; able to select computing appropriate to the task, both as a learning resource and as a discipline in its own right, with an understanding of how computing effects how people live and work.
We aim to provide pupils with opportunities to develop their independence and confidence in their computing capabilities in all curriculum areas, as specified by the national curriculum. This includes opportunities to plan, design, create, program and evaluate information through the use of ICT.
Our curriculum allows pupils to gain confidence and enjoyment from their computing activities and to develop skills which extend and enhance their learning throughout the curriculum;
We aim to develop pupils’ awareness of the use of computers not only in the classroom, but in everyday life; evaluating the potential of computers and also their limitations, as well as an awareness of the risks.
Our curriculum is designed to develop logical thinking and problem solving. It also provides opportunities for pupils to gain knowledge about computing tools.
Online platforms are now being used more than ever to share and stream content. Children need to be kept safe form inappropriate content so I hope these simple ‘Parents’ How to…’ guides will enable us to to make accessing online platforms safer for our children.
